Veterans Coffee Hour
On Wednesday, 1st October, we held our first coffee hour for military veterans at Fernside Surgery. There was a good turnout and had a lovely group of people who attended. The meeting began with introductions and listening to each other’s stories, which was interesting and became a starting point for group discussion.

Shore Medical PCN are proud to be selected to be one of 3 PCN in Dorset to pilot a new program with University Hospital Dorset (Poole).
It is a British Heart Foundation (BHF) research program that is looking to improve the outcomes of patients who have had a heart attack or coronary intervention – such as stent, coronary bypass or angioplasty.
We are referring high risk patients into a Nurse-led Secondary Prevention Lipid Clinic, run by cardiology. We are starting with the highest priority of patients who have very high cholesterol and especially “bad fat” level known as LDL despite max tolerated statin dose.
They will assess patients, promote health lifestyle and diet choices as well as consider additions of medical therapy. This may be additional oral medications or may be newer injectable lipid lowering medications such as Inclisiran.

TV Digital Signage and Self-Service Kiosks
These digital solutions aim to enhance patient engagement and education, improve access to services, and improve practice and patient communication. They will soon be available at all our branch sites.

The TV Digital Signage will display realtime practice news, health education materials, upcoming events, and other essential information.
These will particularly benefit patients who do not engage with newsletters, websites, or social media.

The self-service kiosks will allow patients to submit online consultation requests via SystmConnect, feedback forms, access NHS account and selfhelp literature.
New Patients will also be able to fill Registration forms on it

To use this service, please bring along 2 forms of ID to our reception team who will arrange access for you.

Patients are at the heart of everything we do. If you no longer need your appointment or wish to rearrange, please don’t forget to let us know, so that we can use it for someone else!
