Practice History

At Poole Road Medical Centre we practice from a large converted Victorian house originally built by Dr Bodley-Scott, Mayor of Bournemouth, in the 1860s. The house continued to be used by the Bodley-Scott family for medical practice until 1920. The property then became a dental practice until 1986 when the medical practice took over ownership of the building. The dental practice continues today on the ground floor. Famous previous patients include Robert Louis Stevenson. Our extension was completed in 2010 to widen the range of services we offer and to modernise the practice.

CCTV

For the protection of patients, their belongings and the staff, closed circuit television is in constant use throughout the building.

Violent & Abusive Patients

This practice supports the government’s NHS zero tolerance zone campaign. Violence and abuse is a growing concern. GPs and their staff have the right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. Violent patients will be reported to the police and struck off the GP’s list. We ask that you treat your GP and practice staff courteously.

Disabled Access

Facilities are provided for people with disabilities.
